Are you struggling to hire good people in this marketplace, but don’t have the budget to take on an expensive recruiter?

Here are some low-cost things you can do to recruit people.

  1. Make sure your social media accounts are up to date and really sell the value of working for your company. This allows prospective candidates to understand what it’s really like to work for you.

  2. Put an employee referral program in place and constantly encourage these employee referrals. If you are not getting employee referrals you might want to do a quick engagement survey to test the culture of your company; this can be done with a couple of Net Promoter score type questions.

  3. Create content marketing to attract candidates and build your reputation as an employer of choice. Remember marketing is not just directed at getting prospects for your business.

  4. Revise your job ads. Use language that highlights the benefits and rewards of working at your organization instead of listing 15 things that candidates must have in order to apply.

  5. Focus on college recruiting, interns that are recent graduates are a great choice. Implement a job shadowing program and intern programs for high school students and college students.

  6. Consider looking at alternatives to high priced recruiters such as using an HR consulting company; using their tools but doing the work yourself.

Remember, you need to be selling when you are hiring in this marketplace.
